This week we again see minimal changes in price of the Pentium 4 line of processors. The flagship P4 can now be found for an even $360, while the 1.5GHz part fell $5, putting it at $250. The 1.4GHz model rose $6 this week, but still barely remains under the $200 mark. We should note that investing in a new Pentium 4 not only involves buying a processor, but also an expensive i850 motherboard and RDRAM. For more pricing information on these items, check out our Weekly Memory & Motherboard Price Guide.
The Pentium III segment also saw little change in price this week. The 1.0GHz processor fell $18 and now can be found for $187. The 800MHz EB part fell $17 and can now be found for $140. Those looking to build a high performing system on a budget should look into the 750MHz and 733MHz parts which can each be purchased for $102 and $103, respectively.
This week Intel announced a price cut on their mobile and Celeron lines of processors. We should see the effect of this reduction by the next price guide as it takes several days for the changes to take affect. Overall, the Celeron line relatively quiet this week. The 800MHz chip fell $4, putting it at $75 while the 667MHz part fell $8, putting it at $48.
